Electronic Government Procurement System (e-GP)

As a tool for automating the procurement processes in the public sector on 8th July 2016 the Zambia Public Procurement Authority launched the pilot phase of the e-GP system. The objectives of the system are threefold; to bring about good governance, value for money and social economic development. It is envisaged that once the system is fully rolled out, government will enhance transparency in procurement and realise savings through increased competition. Other notable positives include but not limited to reduction in corruption and malpractices, reduction in face to face transactions, availability of statistics on public procurement through the open contracting and enhanced citizen trust in Government because of transparency in procurement through increased visibility and the publication of procurement data at each stage of procurement.
